In honor of Elie Saab’s 45-year anniversary, Halle Berry brought back her iconic 2002 Oscars gown, in which she received a historic win, to the runway.

By the time she stepped onto the red carpet, actress Halle Berry was making history. Wearing her beautiful red, sheer Elie Saab gown, she marked history as the first Black woman to win the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Monster’s Ball. Fast forward 22 years later, the Never Let Go actress brought back the iconic gown, honoring the creator, Elie Saab.

Instead of her signature pixie cut, Berry rocked a high bun with sparkly earrings with a natural yet fierce make-up look. The sheer red bodice with the stitching of vines and florals with the red silk skirt captured the attention of many in the audience and on social media. She posted her walk on Instagram, captioning the post, “There are some moments in life that just happen and they change our lives forever! Winning an Academy Award in my @eliesaabworld gown was one of those moments for me!”

She adds, “Thank you Mr. Saab for being a part of the tapestry of my life as we have been inextricably connected for 22 years now! It was my honor to celebrate you and your 1001 Seasons. Here’s wishing you many more glorious years of joy, creativity and glamour!”

The ceremony, titled “The 1001 Seasons of Elie Saab,” was not only a commemoration but was intended to welcome “fresh years, marked by a pivotal moment laden with hope.” The designer expresses, “Elie Saab’s celebration at Riyadh Season is a culmination of generations of fashion, rooted in traditions that preceded me, and which I have had the privilege of reinvigorating and evolving. The event captured vast expanses of creativity drawn from the essence of Arab culture and its golden years of intellect and innovation, now showcased to the world through this magnificent event.”

He ends his statement by stating, “A salute to every bearer of peace and love, and a sincere thank you to those who dream with us of a world worthy of beauty. Each step, as I pledged 45 years ago, is a new beginning, and what lies ahead is undoubtedly more beautiful.”

The event consisted of over 300 looks and many artists who were there to support and perform for the designer. Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion, and Camila Cabello all performed in the ceremony, as well as Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram and Egyptian musician Amr Diab.
