Sabrina Carpenter and her “Short n’ Sweet Tour” reached new heights in Los Angeles when pop icon Christina Aguilera joined the singer for a surprise duet.

Fans were thrilled as the duo performed a stunning rendition of Aguilera‘s hits “Ain’t No Other Man” and an acoustic version of “What A Girl Wants.” The collaboration was symbolic, bringing together two generations of pop music excellence.

Carpenter, who has been skyrocketing in fame thanks to her chart-topping album Short n’ Sweet, brought the “Fighter” singer on stage during her first night in Los Angeles. The new outfits from the “Espresso” performer were not the only asset that transcended her performance that night.

The pair’s chemistry lit up the venue, with Carpenter seamlessly matching Aguilera’s vocal powerhouse energy. This collaboration came shortly after the “Genie in a Bottle” performer released a reimagined version of “What a Girl Wants,” featuring the “Please Please Please” singer. This was done in celebration of the song’s 25-year anniversary.

The surprise collaboration came during the Short n’ Sweet performer’s cover portion of her show. The singer has used these performances previously to pay homage to music legends like ABBA and Dolly Parton. However, bringing out the “Beautiful” singer brought some fresh new music to the stage.

In an Instagram post recapping the night, the “Juno” artist thanked her special guest for performing with her. She wrote “Thank you @xtina for coming out last night, giving everyone (me included) the surprise of our lives, and for being one of the main reasons I love + wanted to make pop music.”

As the “Bed Chem” artist continues her tour, fans wonder what other surprises she has in store. Meanwhile, the collaboration with one of pop music’s icons cements her position as one of the industry’s most versatile rising stars.
