Here’s What to Expect for Miley Cyrus’ Upcoming Album Something Beautiful
In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Grammy award-winning artist Miley Cyrus shared details about her upcoming album, Something Beautiful. Here’s what fans can expect from the former Disney star.
The artist has made significant strides since her 2013 album Bangerz, which featured chart-topping singles like “We Can’t Stop” and “Wrecking Ball.” More recently, the pop star achieved massive success with her No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 single, “Flowers,” from her 2023 album Endless Summer Vacation. The hit earned her two Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
Fans can expect Something Beautiful to be an album of visual masterpieces. The singer explained to Harper’s Bazaar, “The visual component of this is driving the sound,” insinuating the album will most likely be a visual album that the artist is experimenting with. Cyrus continues, “It was important for me that every song has these healing sound properties. The songs, whether they’re about destruction or heartbreak or death, they’re presented in a way that is beautiful, because the nastiest times of our life do have a point of beauty. They are the shadow, they are the charcoal, they are the shading. You can’t have a painting without highlights and contrast.”
The album draws inspiration from a variety of sources, from fashion to cinema. She cited Thierry Mugler’s 1995 couture show and Zendaya’s robot suit worn at the Dune: Part Two premiere as touchpoints. However, the primary inspiration comes from Pink Floyd’s 1979 album-turned-rock-opera film The Wall. The singer revealed that watching the film at age 15 left a lasting impression: “I wanted to recreate The Wall, but with a better wardrobe and more glamour, filled with pop culture.”
The artist also revealed that the album is a collaborative project with her longtime boyfriend, Maxx Morando, drummer for the rock band Liily. Morando contributed to writing several tracks, including the album’s title track. Mixing her personal and professional life isn’t new for Cyrus, who reflected, “I worked with my dad forever. That’s how me and my ex-husband met each other. I’ve always worked with the people that I love. And Maxx just inspires me so much.”
Scheduled for release in 2025, Something Beautiful promises to be a groundbreaking mix of music and visuals, aiming to create a euphoric experience. The singer described the album as “an attempt to medicate somewhat of a broken soul” through artistic expression and beauty.
