A new poster for season two of the series Squid Game has been released, only making fans more eager for its release date.

Back in September of 2021, the first season of Squid Game was unveiled to the world. The series was an instant success, winning multiple awards. Squid Game had fans itching for more, and even recreating the costumes from the show.

Three years later, the world is counting down the days until the new season is released, leaving fans with anticipation until December 26. Squid Game has been unveiling posters and trailers hinting at what we might see in the upcoming season.

The poster shows Seong Gi-hun, played by Emmy award-winning actor Lee Jung-jae, running away from a circus-inspired decorated room. With red bows placed on the walls and colored doors with numbers over them, the players flee with their green numbered tracksuits having a mysterious blue O or red X on their right side.

A carousel in the middle of the room also shows the detailing of the shapes seen in the iconic Dalgona cookies in one of the challenges. “Let The New Games Begin” is quoted on the bottom of the poster placed between the images of some players’ deceased bodies.

Hwang Dong-hyuk, the show’s creator, spoke about these unseen X and O badges, and revealed it will be used as a way for the players to announce decisions in certain circumstances. “We have to be cautious when making choices, and we have to accept the consequences [of those choices],” detailed the creator, “I also wanted to tell the story about how the different choices we make create different conflicts and divisions. I wanted to talk about how the choices we make decide which side we end up on.”

Season two was confirmed a month after the series’s initial release. The series took the world by storm, with Squid Game pulling in 1.65 billion hours of viewing in 28 days after its premiere. These records influenced Hwang Dong-hyuk to announce a season two confirmation. “There’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice!” stated the creator in an interview, “But I will say there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently.”

A Squid Game official trailer was also released on November 26, showing the main character doing everything in his power to end the dangerous game once and for all. Other than these subtle hints we are left with, we cannot wait for this Christmas gift to be released and answer the questions we were left with after the end of season one.
