What You Need to Know About Wicked: Part Two
Fans of Wicked will only have to wait one year. Wicked: Part 2 will be released on November 21, 2025, exactly one year after the first film’s release.
Universal Pictures has confirmed the release date, sparking excitement for the next chapter of this epic musical. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the film adaptation of Wicked was divided into two parts to do justice to its powerful story. The first film ends with the powerful performance of “Defying Gravity,” setting the stage for the dramatic continuation. Part 2 will pick up right where it left off, diving into Act II of the musical and exploring the story’s darker, more dramatic twists.
New Faces
The main cast members from Part 1 will remain throughout Part 2 with the addition of new cast members. Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Lion, and the Scarecrow, all of whom will portray significant roles in the unfolding narrative, will return to the big screen.

New Music
The sequel will feature many of the beloved songs from Act II of the Broadway musical, including “For Good,” “As Long As You’re Mine,” and “No Good Deed.” Composer Stephen Schwartz has also confirmed that two new original songs will be included in the film, written to complement the story’s emotional beats. While it’s still unknown who will perform the latest tracks or whether they’ll be solos or duets, fans can look forward to new music that only encourages its iconicness. The soundtrack for Part 1 has already topped the charts and has become a TikTok sensation, and we expect nothing less from its sequel.

Wicked: Part 2 will explore Elphaba’s transformation into the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda’s rise as the Good Witch, revealing key events leading up to The Wizard of Oz. The story will dive into the consequences of the Wicked Witch’s rebellion against the Wizard. It will also explore her complicated relationships with Glinda and Fiyero and the ultimate fate of characters like Boq and Nessarose. As the people of Oz close in on Elphaba, the emotional stakes will continue to rise, culminating in a powerful, dramatic conclusion.
Wicked: Part 2 promises to be an unforgettable continuation of the beloved musical. Its predecessor stands as the number-one film in the world, and fans expect nothing less from its sequel. We are beyond excited for what’s coming when it hits theaters in November 2025.
