Ariana Grande Addresses Body Shaming In New Interview
Ariana Grande has spoken out against body shaming, addressing the criticism she’s received during her press tour for the hit musical film Wicked.
In a recent interview, Grande opened up about how she handles internet trolling and body shaming, which have intensified since she began filming for Wicked. The singer and actress, who has been the subject of countless viral discussions about her appearance, admitted that it’s challenging to ignore the negativity entirely but she’s not surprised by it anymore.
“I’ve been doing this in front of the public and been a specimen in a Petri dish, really, since I was 16 or 17,” she mentioned of hearing criticism about herself throughout the years, “I have heard it all. I’ve heard every version of it, of what’s wrong with me, and then you fix it, and then it’s wrong for different reasons.”
However, this isn’t the first time the singer has had to address comments about her body. In April 2023, the singer turned to TikTok to speak out against the growing wave of remarks about her appearance, calling for greater compassion and understanding.
“So even if you are coming from a loving place and a caring place, that person is probably working on it or has a support system that they are working on it with, and you never know,” the singer stated in her TikTok.
In her recent interview, Grande shared her belief that society has become “too comfortable” commenting on people’s appearances, emphasizing that such behavior can be harmful.
“I think in today’s society there’s a comfortability that we shouldn’t have at all commenting on others’ looks and appearance, what they think is going on behind the scenes or their health or how they present themselves. From what you’re wearing to your body to your fave to everything, there’s a comfortability that people have commenting on that, that I think is really dangerous, and it’s dangerous for all parties involved,” Grande explained.
Fans were proud of the singer and actress for speaking up.
