Alex Consani Wins Model of the Year During Fashion Awards
The people’s princess, Alex Consani, will take home the award as America’s Model of the Year during the annual Fashion Awards show, leaving many fans unsurprised given her fantastic performance on the runway this year.
This award has been the model’s dream come true since she started working as a model in 2015. At 12, she became the youngest transgender model, wanting to dedicate more time to modeling after high school. In 2019, she signed with IMG Models intending to continue her education at Pace University; however, following her runway debut at the Tom Ford show, she dropped out and has continued being iconic on the runway.
As she grew within the modeling world, she also rose to fame on TikTok and has over 4 million followers. Her TikTok followers fell in love with her outgoing and goofy personality, further emphasizing her authenticity balancing her professionalism and influencer, solidifying her as the people’s princess. In an interview, she shares “Gen-Z humor is extremely different from the rest of humor I have seen.”
The Rise of The It Girl
Following her exponential growth on social media, fans have continued to admire her duality. Since her modeling debut, she has walked for many luxury brands, such as Tom Ford, Mugler, Chanel, and Alexander McQueen, and most recently, she walked for the highly anticipated Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
The top model isn’t limited to just the runway, but she’s also featured in many covers and editorials. She has been photographed for Vogue, Interview magazine, Teen Vogue, alongside others. And this is only the beginning of her ever-growing career.
Unsurprisingly, she’d be considered for this year’s annual Model of the Year awards. Although she competed with other talented models, Consani won on the night of December 2, and appointed as the first transgender woman to possess this title. This accomplishment marked a full-circle moment for the model comparing her now with an old interview with her younger self asserting modeling should be an open-door industry stating, “You don’t need to be a specific gender to be beautiful.”
This award not only meant a great deal to the model, but paved the way for future models pining over the same dream she once had. The top model is just starting her career, and we can’t wait to see what she does next.
