Selena Gomez has found peace and love, leading to her newly announced engagement to Benny Blanco. She took to Instagram with a carousel of photos simply captioned, “forever begins now.”
Although she’s happily in love now, it’s taken some time to get to where she’s at. Gomez had public relationships in the past that fans thought were endgame, but fate had other plans. Most notably, her relationship with Justin Bieber, which began in 2011, did not work out and eventually went their separate ways.

After attempting love for various amounts of time, the actress noticed what truly needed attention: herself. Her mental health journey has been widely public in the past. It all began when she discovered she had Lupus. With this discovery, she ended her Revival Tour to focus on her health and other mental health issues.
Not much was public throughout the following years other than the pop star’s battle against depression and anxiety. However, she clarified in interviews that she wished “more people would talk about therapy.” Her break gave her time to heal after years of making others smile.
Part of this journey was documented and later released in 2022 in her Apple TV+ documentary My Mind And Me. The singer had doubts before releasing it as it showed intimate moments of her life but later revealed in an interview that the film was like she was “releasing like I’m exhaling,” she mentioned. “Like I was holding all of this stuff in, and it is super vulnerable, and I was just willing to let it be.” This film brought closure to her and helped heal fans who felt the same.
As the singer learned to love herself, she could continue showcasing her talents and success story. In 2020, the star released her makeup brand, Rare Beauty. The brand is now worth $2 million and offers products that empower women to love their qualities—makeup that embraces natural beauty.
