Actress Zoe Saldaña took home the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in any Motion Picture for her role as Rita Mora Castro in Emilia Pérez.

Emilia Pérez gained traction at last year’s Cannes Film Festival, earning the award of Best Supporting Actress for the female cast. The high praise earned the film 10 nominations at the Golden Globes. Saldaña’s win was one of four wins the film took home.

Her two-minute speech captured many emotions as she addressed friends, family, co-stars, and fellow category nominees.

“This is a first time for me, and I’m so blessed,” she began her speech. This would mark her first Golden Globe nomination and win.

Saldaña’s first mention was to her fellow nominees, where she mentioned, “I know that it is a competition, but all that I have witnessed is just us showing up for each other and celebrating each other, and it’s just so beautiful.”

The other nominees for the category included Ariana Grande for her role in Wicked, Emilia Pérez co-star Selena Gomez, Felicity Jones in The Brutalist, Margaret Qualley in The Substance, and Isabella Rossellini for Conclave.

Saldaña shared a touching moment with co-star and lead actress of Emilia Pérez, Karla Sofia Gascón, when she addressed her directly in Spanish, telling her, “You are unique, queen.”

Saldaña later joined the rest of the Emilia Pérez cast to accept Best Motion Picture—Musical or Comedy. The actress was among the few Latina women to win an award that night. Brazilian actress Fernanda Torres took home Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture—Drama for her role in I’m Still Here, along with fellow cast members Gascón and Gomez, who were seen on stage accepting the Best Motion Picture award.

Saldaña’s mother was in attendance, cheering and applauding as her daughter accepted her award. The actress finished her speech thanking her family, pointing her out in the audience when mentioning her mother.

After finishing her speech with a final thank you, the winner walked off the stage proudly, holding the Golden Globe high in her arms.
