Bad Bunny and Jimmy Fallon performed a surprise concert in the New York City subway as he prepared to co-host The Late Night Show With Jimmy Fallon on January 13.

Rapper Bad Bunny and late-night show host Jimmy Fallon donned curly wigs and fake beards as they busked 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Center station on Sixth Avenue, next to 30 Rockefeller Plaza where Fallon’s show is filmed.

While in disguise, the duo covered boy band The Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way” before stripping off their wigs and beards to reveal their identities. The Puerto Rican singer then performed the leading track from his newest album DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, “NUEVAYoL.”

Fans were seen gathered around the star, dancing and singing along to his performance. Fans both present and absent from the event flocked to X, voicing their excitement towards the singer performing part of his newest album live.

This was not the first time the Puerto Rican singer appeared on the show, making consistent guest appearances since his debut in 2018. This would be his first time co-hosting the show, acting alongside Fallon as host.

This performance comes after the release of his album DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, a tribute to his home: Puerto Rico. The album combines the musician’s staple reggaeton style with other elements of Latin American music, namely salsa.

Translating to I Should Have Taken More Photos, Bad Bunny’s newest album is a thank-you note to his island, reflecting on his return to his roots as a Puerto Rican.

“I have a good memory, but I know there’s going to be a time where I’m not going to remember really incredible times. It has a lot of meaning in terms of wishing I had seized certain moments. That’s the idea: enjoying the moment when I could and valuing memories,” he told Rolling Stone.

This subway concert is not the first Fallon has conducted. Artists such as Green Day have accompanied Fallon in subway performances on the same platform, playing classic punk favorites such as “Basket Case” and “American Idiot.”
