Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, surprised the patients at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. This visit held special significance, as it is the same hospital where she was treated during her battle with cancer.

The wife of Prince William, announced in March last year that doctors had diagnosed her with cancer. She also shared that she would undergo chemotherapy, but since then, she has not shared further details of her diagnosis or treatment.

She spoke with a woman undergoing chemotherapy. She asked, “When did you first start treatment? Oh, today? How are you finding it?” She also described the long-term effects following her private cancer journey.

Dressed in a long brown checkered coat and a maxi burgundy dress, she sat down with doctors, nurses, and patients at the hospital. This marked her first solo engagement in more than a year.

“It’s really tough. It’s such a shock. Everyone said to me, ‘Please keep a positive mindset; it makes such a difference,’” she stated. “I was just saying, coming in the front entrance here, having made so many quiet, private visits, actually it’s quite nice,” she added of her experience returning to the hospital after completing her treatment.

This visit was the first time the Royal Marsden disclosed that it was where she received cancer treatment. It has almost been a year since the princess’s health problems were first revealed. Last January, she announced she had undergone abdominal surgery.

“We were honored to welcome Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales to The Royal Marsden in Chelsea this morning and are delighted that Her Royal Highness is now joining His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales in becoming Joint Patrons of our specialist cancer center,” Dame Cally Palmer, Chief Executive of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, told The Post in a statement.

Middleton gave an update on her health via X.

“It is a relief to now be in remission, and I remain focused on recovery,” the princess wrote. “As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal.”

“I am, however, looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead,” she continued. “There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”

The princess shared that she had completed chemotherapy and was focused on staying “cancer-free” and returning to work.
