How the Grammys Will Pivot Amidst Wildfires
CEO of the Recording Academy, Harvey Mason Jr., and the chair of the academy’s board of trustees, Tammy Hunt, held a webinar to announce that the Grammys and Grammy Week 2025 will still happen with some pivoting of plans, despite the destructive wildfires that occurred across Los Angeles, California last week.
Mason explained the change made to Grammy Week 2025 is that the award show “will not just be about honoring music” and instead “will be about using the power of music to help rebuild, uplift, and support those in need.” Mason claims the change comes after “thoughtful consideration and multiple assurances from state and local elected leaders, public safety agencies, and with the support from our incredible artist community.”
Additionally, the academy released a condensed 2025 Grammy Week event schedule. The 67 annual Grammy Awards on CBS will continue to be held on February 2 but “with a renewed sense of purpose: raising additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts and honoring the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours.”
2025 #GRAMMYs still expected to air February 2 from LA.

The condensed event schedule will feature four events spanning from January 31 to February 2. The academy has begun to stress the philanthropic angle and that each scheduled event will have a fundraising element. The Clive’s Party has been rebranded for this year’s event as the Clive Davis’ & the Recording Academy’s Pre-Grammy Fundraising Event. The academy has also added the word charity to one of its most exclusive events – the MusiCares Persons of the Year Charity Gala.
The condensed 2025 Grammy Week event schedule is as follows:
- Friday, January 31: MusiCares Persons of the Year Charity Gala honoring the Grateful Dead
- Saturday, February 1: Special Merit Awards Ceremony & Grammy Nominees Reception
- Saturday, February 1: Clive Davis’ & the Recording Academy’s Pre-Grammy Fundraising Event
- Sunday, February 2: 67th Annual Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony & Telecast
The Recording Academy and MusiCares have raised and pledged more than $2 million in emergency aid to music people affected by the wildfires as a result of starting their Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort to Support Music Professionals last week.
For this year’s installment, Beyoncé leads with 11 nominations, followed by Charli XCX and Post Malone with eight, and Billie Eilish and Kendrick Lamar tying with seven each. January 3 concluded the final round of voting, leaving everyone in anticipation of February 2 to reveal the year’s top musicians.
