Abbott Elementary Gets Renewed for a New School Year

Abbott Elementary has been renewed for a fifth season, which is unsurprising for many. The ABC mockumentary series has received quick pick-ups since its first three seasons.

On the official Abbott Elementary Instagram page, a video displays the children counting up to the number five and dancing as they announce that another season is coming.

The cast includes Emmy-winning actresses Quinta Brunson (Janine Teagues) and Sheryl Lee Ralph (Barbara Howard), as well as William Stanford Davis (Mr. Johnson), Janelle James (Ava Coleman), Chris Perfetti (Jacob Hill), Lisa Ann Walter (Melissa Schemmenti), and Tyler James Williams (Gregory Eddie).

The series consists of ambitious teachers at an underfunded public school in Philadelphia who do everything in their power to get their children the education they deserve. The series also offers viewers a perspective through the teachers’ eyes of what working at an elementary school might be like.

One of the series’ most-streamed episodes is episode nine of season four, titled “Volunteers.” The January 8 crossover episode between Abbott Elementary and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia had around 8.05 million viewers within the first week.

The crossover episode included the case of Abbott Elementary and Charlie Day (Charlie), Rob McElhenney (Mac), Kaitlin Olson (Dee), Glenn Howerton (Dennis), and Danny DeVito (Frank). The episode was the first of two crossovers between these two titles. Towards the future, there is expected to be a follow-up episode in the seventeenth season of It’s Always Sunny.

With 22 episodes scheduled to be aired, the eleventh episode aired on January 22, in which, after hearing their students are missing school due to city buses stopping due to the strike, the teachers must learn how to adapt to hybrid learning.

Abbott Elementary airs on ABC on Wednesdays, and you can stream it on Hulu the following day.
