There’s a new hope for Star Wars fans as Ryan Gosling is in negotiation to join filmmaker Shawn Levy’s feature project. From Ken to Kenobi? From Barbieland to a galaxy far, far away? Where exactly will this Fall Guy land in this iconic cinematic universe?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Levy’s Star Wars film is meant to be a stand-alone movie. Lucasfilm has yet to comment on any impending deal or details of the new project that has been developing since 2022.

Levy has once again partnered with Jonathan Tropper who collaborated with him on This Is Where I Leave You and The Adam Project. Tropper has been working on a script for this Star Wars project for over a year. How much time does it take to write a script to fit a franchise that dates back almost half a century?

The Gosling news comes relatively late in Levy’s film schedule timeline, but the actor’s involvement could be the sudden shift Levy needs to get this film off the ground. If the deal is made, the project would become Levy’s newest blockbuster film and he could begin filming as early as this fall.

What makes the Notebook star’s interest in this film so unique is that he is already an established A-list actor. The actors in the original Star Wars trilogy such as Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford, became big names after their iconic roles as Luke, Leia, and Han Solo.

Should Gosling’s role be finalized, it wouldn’t exactly be his first time dabbling in space travel and intergalactic conflict. In 2018, the actor portrayed Neil Armstrong in the First Man, which tells the true story of the first man to walk on the moon. And if we’re counting, he’s also danced among the stars and twirled his way through the Griffith Observatory in La La Land.

Although he’s yet to master the Force or wield a lightsaber, Gosling could soon be getting his chance to prove he’s not just Ken—he’s also Space Ken.
