Karla Sofía Gascón made history as the first transgender woman to be nominated for an acting Oscar. She is up for best actress in a leading role for her powerful performance in Emilia Pérez. First-time nominees Zoe Saldaña and Gascón join the impressive roster of talent celebrated this year.
Loved every bit of Jacques Audiard’s ‘Emilia Perez’ including the music and incredible performances by Selena Gomez, Zoe Saldana and Karla Sofía Gascón. It’s like nothing else, the cartel story centering trans and identity, the raw cinematography. These women absolutely kill it.… pic.twitter.com/NCOxfIY7A1
