Jennifer Garner Tapped for New Series by The Perfect Couple Author

Golden Globe-winning actress Jennifer Garner will portray Hollis Shaw, the leading character of The Five-Star Weekend a novel by Elin Hilderbrand. Garner will also serve as executive producer on the series.

On Monday, January 27, Deadline reported that the actress has signed on The Five-Star Weekend as both an executive producer behind the camera and the lead actress in front of it.

In addition to Garner, Emmy Award-Winning creators Sue Naegle and Ali Krug have also signed on through their company, Dinner Party Productions, a division of the Universal Studio Group. Beth Schacter will also executive produce and write for the series, along with Hilderbrand.

Peacock began development in April 2024, so any further updates on the project are likely to be delayed. Besides Garner, no additional casting has been confirmed. Garner’s signing onto this project most likely sealed the deal, motivating Peacock to officially give series the green light.

Hollis Shaw, a popular food blogger for “Hungry with Hollis,” has her life turned upside down after the devastating loss of her husband Matthew. The loss takes a heavy toll on Hollis and her daughter, and the cracks in her picture-perfect life deepen and widen.

In dire need of something positive, Hollis plans a special “five-star weekend” a kind of “self-care retreat” in Nantucket, a tiny island south of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She invites old friends from different stages in her life: teen years, twenties, and midlife.

But what she expects to be a lovely reunion with old friends becomes a weekend getaway full of friendship, love, and self-discovery. Hollis is forced to come to terms with grief, friendship, and self-discovery through loss.

The Five-Star Weekend was released on June 13, 2023. It was one of many of Hilderbrand’s books that take place on the sleepy island of Nantucket. She is a New York Times bestselling author, and The Five-Star Weekend won the Goodreads Choice Award for Fiction.

This will not be the first of Hilderbrand’s books to reach our screens. Netflix premiered The Perfect Couple on September 5, 2024. The mystery drama series centers around a lavish wedding of elites interrupted by a murder. What becomes a celebration quickly becomes a mystery.

Spending six weeks on the streaming platform’s Top Ten series chart, it starred Nicole Kidman, Billy Howle, Dakota Fanning, Jack Reynor, Meghann Fahy, Liev Schreiber, Eve Hewson and many more.

Garner is also currently working on season two of her Apple TV series The Last Thing He Told Me, another book-to-screen adaptation. Same as The Five-Star Weekend, season two has yet receive a premiere date.
