The 2025 Grammy Awards and FireAid benefit concert raised approximately $125 million for L.A. wildfire relief efforts.

FireAid Benefit Concert

Last Thursday, FireAid’s concert, held simultaneously at the Kia Forum and Intuit Dome, included artists such as Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Joni Mitchell, and Green Day. It was broadcast on over 25 streaming services. By the night’s end, the event raised a formidable $100 million from the estimated 50 million viewers in a combined total of ticket sales, merchandise sponsorships, and donations.

According to FireAid, “Contributions made to FireAid in connection with the FireAid benefit concert and other direct donations will be distributed under the advisement of the Annenberg Foundation and will be distributed for short-term relief efforts and long-term initiatives to prevent future fire disasters throughout Southern California. The Annenberg Foundation, with decades of philanthropic leadership in our community, including rapid response, will help coordinate a team to direct funds for the greatest impact.”

The first phase of grants is expected to be allocated by mid-February.

The Grammys

Meanwhile, the Grammys and affiliated events collected a combined total of $24 million towards fire relief, with $9 million raised during Grammy night and $15 million from MusiCares events over the past week. MusiCares is a non-profit organization offering short-term financial assistance for music professionals affected by the fires. The money raised from the Grammys will be administered to MusiCares with the humanitarian organization Direct Relief, the California Community Foundation, and the Pasadena Community Foundation.

The ceremony highlighted heroes and victims of the wildfires. L.A. rock band Dawes, whose members lost homes and studios in the Eaton fire, opened the awards ceremony. Additionally, local firefighters presented the Album of the Year award to Beyoncé

The fires burned over 55,000 acres, destroying communities and homes across the Southern California area. According to CAL FIRE, 16,244 structures were destroyed and 29 lives were lost. Given that L.A. is a hub for creative industries, artists are doing whatever they can to help revive the place they call home.
