Charli D’Amelio Makes Recovery After New Injury During & Juliet Performance
TikTok star Charli D’Amelio injured herself during a performance in Broadway’s ‘& Juliet.’
On October 19 2024, the youngest D’Amelio announced she would be joining the cast on Broadway.
“I’m beyond excited to join the Broadway community,” she stated. “It’s a dream I’ve had since I was a little girl.” D’Amelio is featured in the ensemble as Chairman.
During her performance, a set piece fell on the dancer’s head. A TikTok user at the show explained what happened. “The thing that covers the stage came down and hit her on the head… poor girl was knocked out.”
Sources added, “They paused the show for about five minutes and then she was back on and dancing. She had a mark on her head and everything.”
The influencer started content creation in 2019. When the pandemic hit in 2020, she catapulted to fame, surpassing social media personality Loren Gray. In 2022, she teamed up with Mark Ballas on Dancing With The Stars where the pair won the prized mirrorball trophy.
When discussing the transition from TikTok to Broadway, she shared, “There is confusion as to why I would be stepping into something like this, not having the resume that some of these cast members have. I feel like this is my time to just show how much I’m really putting in to be right there with them. I feel like myself, this was how I was growing up. You go to rehearsal and you do the things, and performing is something that I just have always loved doing.”
Afterward, the dancer reflected on her friendship with Ballas. “Mark being my partner on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ helped me learn so much about myself.”
Later, D’Amelio shared the support she received regarding the Broadway news. “[Ballas] was just so excited for me.” However, Ballas is a Broadway veteran, participating in the production of Kinky Boots in 2013. Furthermore, she added “I’m so thankful that I can have people that I can talk to that have been in this world before and know it more than I do, that I can ask the questions and learn from them.”
We wish Charli a speedy recovery.
