Warner Bros. Adds 31 Films to YouTube for Free

Warner Bros. made it easier for people to watch some of their films after they uploaded them to YouTube, making them available to stream for free.

Since the start of the year, the company has released 31 full-length films to YouTube. They can be streamed for free with ads, but YouTube Premium users can view the films ad-free.

Warner Bros. compiled the films into a playlist on YouTube, making it easier for film-watchers to find.

The playlist’s description reads: “Watch your favorite full movies here from Warner Bros. Entertainment! All your favorite legends are here including Jackie Chan, Ryan Reynolds, Catherine O’Hara, Tarzan, Liam Neeson, Julia Roberts, Eugene Levy, and more! Keep an eye out for more feature length films for free, right here.”

As of today, the most-watched film in the playlist is Mr. Nice Guy, which was released in 1997. The film follows a Chinese chef, portrayed by Jackie Chan, who gets tangled up with a reporter who filmed the bust of a drug ring that went wrong. He then becomes a target for the gangs who want to get their hands on the video. The film has amassed 16 million views so far since being uploaded on January 1.

The films featured in the playlist span various genres. Some films featured in the playlist include Dungeons & Dragons, The Wind and the Lion, Chaos Theory, December Boys, and more.

The uploads were first noticed by Gizmodo. Warner Bros. has also made deals with free, ad-supported services such as Roku and Tubi to license their content on those platforms.

The company faced some backlash over the past few years over how they’ve managed their creative endeavors since WarnerMedia and Discovery merged in 2021. Led by their CEO, David Zaslav, people questioned the company’s commitment to artistic projects.
