The New Season of The Last of Us Will Now Arrive This April on HBO

HBO

Post-apocalyptic HBO television drama, The Last of Us is returning this April. With less than two months to go, here’s everything to know about season 2.

The Last of Us television series takes place in a post-apocalyptic United States. In this alternate universe, a mass fungal infection spread through yeast causes its host to become “clickers,” zombie-like creatures that sprout the disease from their heads. Twenty years after the initial outbreak, small-time smuggler Joel (Pedro Pascal) gets a job escorting an interesting piece of cargo: Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a teenage girl immune to the fungal injection.

While season one saw Joel and Ellie travel across the United States to reach a secure lab in the hope of a possible cure for the “infected,” season two, set four years later, sees the pair drawn into a world even more dangerous than the one they left behind.

Based on the popular PlayStation duology The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part II, season one adapted the first game beat for beat. However, according to HBO executive Francesca Orsi, the creators hope the television series will last four seasons. So, only a fraction of the second game will likely take up all of season two.
