Lady Gaga Confirms Continuation of ‘Telephone’ in New Interview
In a new lie detector test interview with Vanity Fair, Lady Gaga reveals that her “Telephone” music video will be continued. When asked if Beyoncé will be joining her, Gaga replies with a hopeful “maybe.”
In 2010, Gaga and Beyoncé released the iconic song “Telephone” with an accompanying 10-minute music video. In the video, Beyoncé breaks Gaga out of prison and they drive away in a red and yellow truck. The closing shot is of the car driving down a desert road with “To be continued…” displayed at the top of the screen.
After 15 years, fans may finally get their long-awaited continuation. The “Die With a Smile” singer was asked in a recent Vanity Fair interview, “The music video for your song ‘Telephone’ said ‘To be continued’ at the end: will it ever be continued?”
She replied simply, “Yes.”
“When?” asked the interviewer, and Gaga answered, smiling, “I don’t know.”
The interviewer then inquired, “Will this person be in it?” displaying a picture of Beyoncé, and Gaga coyly replied, “Maybe.”
Gaga was then asked, “Is it taking forever because of scheduling conflicts with Beyoncé?” and she replied dismissively, “No.”
This follows speculation of a “Telephone” sequel from last year. In her first Cowboy Carter teaser during the 2024 Super Bowl, the “Crazy in Love” singer is seen driving a taxi through the desert. This reminded fans of the way the “Telephone” music video ended; however, Gaga did not end up contributing to Beyoncé’s newest album.
Nevertheless, in the “DOLLY P” interlude, Dolly Parton refers to Beyoncé as “Miss Honey Bee,” the name of Beyoncé’s character in the “Telephone” video.
Gaga did not confirm if her collaboration with Bey will appear on her upcoming album, Mayhem, which is set to arrive on March 7, however, the signs are pointing to a “Telephone” sequel in the near future.
