Gracie Abrams Set to Be Recognized as Young New Songwriter

Gracie Abrams will receive the Hal David Starlight Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

The “That’s So True” singer will receive her honor at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Dinner on June 12. The ceremony is being held at the Marriott Marquis in New York City.

“This continues to be an amazing time for songwriters, performers, and music in general,” SHOF Chairman Nile Rodgers stated. “Gracie Abrams is at the forefront of this movement with her award-winning songwriting style, impressive stage presence, and her overall remarkable artistry. We are beyond thrilled that she will be the 2025 recipient of the Hal David Starlight Award.”

The award was created in 2004 to honor former SHOF Chairman Emeritus Hal David. It is given to young songwriters who have already had a substantial influence on the industry through writing.

The artist accompanies several big names in music as a recipient: SZA, Post Malone, Halsey, Sara Bareilles, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Nick Jonas, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Benny Blanco, and many others.

That artists being inducted into the hall of fame this year, include George Clinton, Tom Johnston, Michael McDonald, Patrick Simmons, Ashley Gorley, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, Mike Love, and Tony Macaulay.

She released her first single in 2019, entitled “Mean It.” She later released her first album, Good Riddance, in 2023. The “I Love You, I’m Sorry” singer experienced a major rise in popularity after she opened several shows for Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour.”

She received two nominations at the Grammys for Best New Artist, as well as Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “us. (feat. Taylor Swift).”

In October 2024, the singer dropped the deluxe version of her beloved album, The Secret of Us. Most recently, she featured in the single “Call Me When You Break Up” with Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, from their new album I Said I Love You First.
