Charli xcx Jokes About Winning BRIT’s Songwriter of the Year

Grammy Award-winning Charli xcx joked on social media about the announcement of her BRIT Songwriter of the Year award win ahead of the event.
The British pop star has had one of the best years of her career so far with the release of her sixth studio album, BRAT. xcx won her first Grammy for Best Recording Package, Best Dance/Electronic Album, and Best Dance Pop Recording and performed at this year’s event.
The album was not just an international success but a cultural phenomenon. The signature BRAT green, the marketing for the album, and the album’s overall theme became an attitude and lifestyle. “Brat Summer” became so iconic that former Vice President Kamala Harris used it in her presidential campaign marketing strategy to appeal to younger voters, confusing CNN hosts.
After the massive success, XCX released a remix album of BRAT featuring artists like Ariana Grande and Billie Eilish titled Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat.
XCX, who got her start in underground raves, has now become a mainstream international star. While some may have just now learned of her, the electronic singer has been working hard at her music career for years.
The BRIT Awards has nominated XCX for the most awards this year, including for the coveted Song, Album, and Artist of the Year. Ahead of the award’s event set for this Saturday, the BRITs announced XCX as the winner of the Songwriter of the Year Award.

In response to the award announcement, the pop star took to X, formally Twitter. She joked, “‘yeah i wanna dance to me me me me me. when i go to the club club club club club club’ – charli xcx, songwriter of the year xx.”
The singer may make self-deprecating jokes about her success, but the musician has consistently proven her talent over the years. Not only has xcx written her own critically acclaimed songs, but she has also written songs for other artists, such as Selena Gomez’s “Same Old Love” and Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s collaborative song “Señorita.”
