The video teaser displays the new and returning cast showing off their Gilded Age garb to the camera, which is more of a photoshoot than a look at the following season. Given that the season 2 premiere is roughly three months away be on the lookout for an official trailer that should be out sometime in April.
Based on an unfinished novel by the same name from Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Edith Wharton, The Buccaneers follows five young American socialites from New York as they are invited to London to participate in the debutante season and are challenged by the stuffiness of British aristocracy.
The Buccaneers’ New and Returning Cast
Nan St. George (Kristine Frøseth), her sister Jinny (Imogen Waterhouse), and their friends, sisters Lizzy (Aubri Ibrag) and Mabel Ellsworth (Josie Totah), and Conchita Closson (Alisha Boe), are invited to London upon Conchita’s marriage to Lord Richard Marble (Josh Dylan).
These New York new-money socialites have no idea what to expect in the world of Lords and Ladies, and Nan finds herself caught between the affections of Theo, Duke of Tintagel (Guy Remmers), and his closest friend, Guy Thwarte (Matthew Broome).
Joining the historical drama for its second season is Greg Wise as Reede Robinson, Jacob Ifan as Hector Robinson, Grace Ambrose as Paloma Ballardino, Maria Almeida as Cora Merrigan, and Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester as Nell.
The Buccaneers ensemble includes Emmy award-winning Christina Hendricks as Mrs. St. George, Mia Threapleton as Honoria Marable, and Barney Fishwick as Lord James Seadown.
The series was written and created by British creator Katherine Jakeways.
Season one left off with the girls in quite a precarious state. Nan married Theo and became the Duchess of Tintagel to protect her sister Jinny. Jinny, pregnant and fleeing her cruel husband, Lord Seadown – she’s now wanted throughout London for kidnapping her unborn child, has fled to South America with Guy.
These all-American ladies are no longer outsiders to English society; now, they’re running the place—or the palace. Get it?
