Christoph Waltz Added To Popular Comedy Only Murders in the Building for Season 5
The hit Hulu series Only Murders in the Building is returning for a fifth season in 2026, and they’re adding new tenants, including Academy Award-winning actor Christoph Waltz.
The Emmy award-winning comedy centers around Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez), Charles Haden-Savage (Steve Martin), and Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) in the Upper Westside of Manhattan who start a podcast to try to solve the mysterious deaths in their building.
With a new mystery on their hands, there will be new suspects, and therefore, new characters. Past seasons have seen the Hulu series add some top tier a listers to their cast, including Meryl Streep, Eugene Levy, Jane Lunch, Tina Fey, Melissa McCarthy, Kumail Nanjiani, Nathan Lane, Molly Shannon, and Paul Rudd.
When it came to casting, it’s clear that Short and Martin just scrolled through their contract lists, clicked any one of their actor friends, and asked if they’d like to join the cast. But hey, no complaints here.
If the pattern continues, it’s safe to assume that Christoph Waltz will be one of many exciting casting announcements. Already, Only Murders in the Building has added Keegan-Michael Kay to the season 5 cast.
Waltz has won two Oscars for Best Supporting Actor for his work with Quintin Tarantino: the first in 2010 for Inglorious Bastards and the second in 2013 for Django Unchained.
Waltz’s other credits include hit features such as Water for Elephants, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, and the French Dispatch, as well as two James Bond films, Spectre and No Time to Die. He will also be in Guillermo del Toro’s next film, an adaptation of Frankenstein as Doctor Pretorius.
Only Murder in the Building debuted in 2021 and released its latest season 4 this past August. It was then confirmed for season 5 less than a month later.
Besides what audiences can guess from the finale episode of Season 4, there is little confirmed information for Season 5. The beloved dramedy is currently in production, with no confirmed release date.
