Ed Sheeran last released an album in 2023, titled, Autumn Variations.

The artist took to social media to tease new music, two years after his last album release.

The “Shape of You” singer posted a clip of an upcoming single, “Azizam,” which is the lead track off his soon-to-be-announced eighth album. The video illustrates Sheeran and his producer, Ilya Salmanzadeh, listening to the track together.

The post was captioned, “Album done. Single soon. I’m very excited as you can tell.”

The term “azizam,” is Persian for, “my dear.” The track seems to have a more upbeat, dance-like tone to it.

The song was performed live for the first time in New Orleans, where the “Castle on the Hill” star held a pop-up show. Recently, Sheeran has also surprised fans with performances at a local bar in Nashville and in Boston on St. Patrick’s Day.

On Friday, the singer-songwriter posted another cryptic video on Instagram, further teasing the upcoming album announcement. The caption read, “pressing play today. link in bio. keep your eye out for clues x.”

The post had fans in the comments incredibly excited. One fan commented, “CANT WAIT!!! Ready for all the clues Teddy.”

His latest album, Autumn Variations, reached the fourth spot on the Billboard 200. Sheeran’s other albums include +, , X, ÷, and =, as well as No. 6. He earned his first Grammy wins at the 2016 Grammy Awards, taking home Best Pop Solo Performance and Song of the Year for his hit song “Thinking Out Loud.” Sheeran’s last song release, “Under the Tree,” was created for the Netflix film, That Christmas.

The four-time Grammy winner is currently on break from his Mathematics Tour, which kicked off in Dublin, Ireland, in 2022. The tour resumes this April with a show in Qatar and will conclude on September 7 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
