New Selena Gomez Album Debuts with 5 Million Streams

Interscope Records

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s new album, I Said I Love You First, debuted with 5.05 million streams on Global Spotify during its March 21 release date.

The engaged couple released their first album together following weeks of promotions and glimpses into the project. It contains 14 songs, running a total of about 35 minutes long.

So far, the most streamed song on the album is “I Can’t Get Enough,” in collaboration with J Balvin and Tainy. It currently has 354.8 million streams on Spotify. The original song was actually released in 2019, however, it was remade and featured on the new album. This song was the first time Gomez and Blanco collaborated. While the single is six years old, this marks the first collaboration for the couple and is a fan favorite.

The second most streamed song is “Call Me When You Break Up (with Gracie Abrams)” with 40.2 million streams on Spotify. The collaboration was released on February 20 and has been available for a month, unlike most of the songs on the album.

Coming in third is “Scared of Loving You” with 14.2 million streams. The final song on the album was released on February 13 along with the announcement that Blanco and Gomez will soon debut I Said I Love You First. Right in time for Valentine’s Day, the song explores declaring love for someone but also the fear that accompanies doing so.

Being her first album in five years, I Said I Love You First was definitely highly anticipated. But after releasing this project to fans, Gomez did not stop there. She also released tracks “Talk” and “Stained” on her official store. “Stained” was an unreleased track for her album Rare that was leaked on Snapchat eight years ago. Since then, fans have been dying to get their hands on a published version and now their wish has been granted.

Gomez acknowledges her loving and encouraging fan base by thanking them in an Instagram post announcing the official release of the album. She expressed, “…thank you to my amazing fans who have grown up with me and cheered me on through every chapter of this story. I hope you love these songs like I do and they help you along with your own journey. Thank you for being a part of mine, it truly means the world to me.”
