After witnessing Snow White succeed in the box office, Rachel Zegler is on top of the world.

The new film’s lead actress took to Instagram on March 24 to celebrate the live-action remake’s success. “#1 Movie In The World!” she wrote in the caption of a photo of her smiling in the titular princess costume while she waved from her trailer on the film’s set. Sticking with the Snow White theme, she added a red apple and snowflake emoji in the caption to accompany the joyful message.

The hit film, co-starring Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, brought in $43 million domestically and $44.3 million internationally as of Sunday, according to Variety. Given its $240 million-plus budget, the box office performance proved more underwhelming. The Marc Webb-directed fairytale did indeed emerge as the weekend’s top earner, though, over the likes of Black Bag, Captain America: Brave New World, and Mickey 17

The blockbuster project did have some competition on opening weekend when Alto Knights, starring Robert De Niro. Although the film’s earnings came in at a disappointing $3.2 million domestically and $1.8 million aboard, while Magazine Dreams, starring Jonathan Majors, totaled just $700,000.

Zegler has offered some behind the scenes glimpses of Snow White on her social media accounts. “The movie was a life-changing experience that has held about four years of my career,” the Golden Globe winner wrote in a March 20 Instagram post. She added that “the growing up you do from the age of twenty (when she was cast) to twenty-three (the age she is now) cannot be accurately described, yet they exist here on film forever.”

However, Snow White’s release has been considered controversial by some. Zegler, who is of Colombian and Polish descent, faced racial backlash from social media users over a Latina actress being cast as the Disney character. The West Side Story star also made headlines when she called the classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs “dated.”

The live-action adaptation, by Erin Cressida Wilson, features original tracks from composers Beni Pasek and Justin Paul. The film also features Andrew Burnap, who portrays the princess lover, and new character named Jonathan, along with voices and motion-capture performances from actors portraying the seven dwarfs.
