Lexie Minetree Stars in New Legally Blonde Prequel
Lexie Minetree stars as Elle Woods in the new Legally Blonde prequel series, Elle.
Reese Witherspoon shared on Instagram that the new series has officially started filming. “Harvard was hard. High School was harder. Our new series, Elle, is now in production,” she wrote.
The series is set to follow the iconic Elle Woods as she journeys through high school, granting the viewers a glimpse of who she was before we met her as the ambitious young woman in Legally Blonde.
In February, Minetree was announced to portray the beloved role, making this her first leading role after smaller appearances on Law & Order: SVU, The Murdaugh Murders, Crowdsource Murder, and The Paramedic Who Stalked Me.

Minetree shared the exciting news on Instagram, thanking Witherspoon. She captioned the post, “THANK YOU to @reesewitherspoon for handing me down Elle Woods. I already love her so so much, I promise she’s in good hands.”
Tom Everett Scott is cast as Elle’s father, and June Diane Raphael will depict her mother.
Laura Kittrell is the creator of the series and takes on the role of co-showrunner alongside Caroline Dries. They’ll also serve as executive producers with Marc Platt, Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, and Lauren Kisilevsky.
The original Legally Blonde film was released in 2001, directed by Robert Luketic and written by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith. The film is based on the book by Amanda Brown. Witherspoon reprised her role as Elle in the 2003 sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde. The original film was adapted into a Broadway musical in 2007, with Laura Bell Bundy taking on the lead role and prompting an MTV reality casting series to find her replacement, which went to Bailey Hanks.
