Miley Cyrus Drops Something Beautiful Tracks
Something beautiful indeed: Miley Cyrus is giving fans the first taste of her upcoming psychedelic, fashion-forward ninth studio album, Something Beautiful. Releasing May 30, Cyrus dropped the first two tracks, “Prelude” and “Something Beautiful,” off the Pink Floyd-inspired visual LP.
The psychedelic pop-rock-inspired songs released four hours apart were accompanied by two glossy music videos to match. Cyrus first teased the album last year while on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar, but officially teased its title in early March with billboards popping up in several cities. The visual album is inspired by the iconic Pink Floyd album, The Wall, and features her styled in vintage Thierry Mugler.
The singer, who has consistently dabbled in multiple genres over the course of her career, set the tone for her upcoming release with the track “Prelude.” In the spoken word track, she questions several existential thoughts over a gradually growing electric symphony. Before its big crescendo, she finalizes, “But the beauty that one finds alone is a prayer that longs to be shared.”
The electrifying track was executive produced by Cyrus and Shawn Everett, and also co-produced by Michael Pollack, Jonathan Rado, and her current boyfriend, Maxx Morando.
Fan and critic reactions have been mostly positive, with one fan writing on X, “People who don’t get Miley’s new sound clearly don’t understand miley. She is the pop chameleon. We are witnessing such an interesting era, and it’s clear she had so much control in the development of Something Beautiful.”

Just a few hours after letting fans dissect the visuals and the introduction to the era, she dropped the album’s official lead single and title track, “Something Beautiful,” giving us a taste of what her work with Mandy director Panos Cosmatos sounds like.
The track, co-produced by Cyrus and Cosmatos, and is a slower, jazz inspired number, where she seemingly croons over her love with Morando, “Tell me somethin’ I can hold on to, you’re who I belong to, I drown in devotion (Devotion) as deep as the ocean (The ocean), So don’t let me go, no, no, no.”
The song then expertly explodes into a hard rock chorus, which has been praised by fans. One wrote on X, “Miley Cyrus combining melodic jazz with a surprising hard rock chorus is insane.” Another commented, “something beautiful is the soty [Song of the Year] with the most insane outro ever that faced humanity miley I love you.”
If that wasn’t enough, the artist announced the release of the album’s second single, “End of the World,” with yet another shining teaser showing the star donning a green mini dress. That song will be released on April 3.
While the album drops in May, Cyrus announced the accompanying film won’t be released until June, seemingly declaring that this summer will be the “Summer of Miley Cyrus.” Until then, we can satisfy our cravings with the visuals for “Prelude” and “Something Beautiful.”
