Laufey Releases New Single and Music Video for ‘Silver Lining’
Grammy Award-winning musician Laufey released her new single, “Silver Lining,” along with its music video on Thursday.
The critically acclaimed jazz-pop musician released her latest single, “Silver Lining.” This is Laufey’s first original single since the release of her Grammy Award-winning album Bewitched. Following the release, she has also posted “Silver Lining” merch on her official website.
“‘Silver Lining’ is a love song about being able to set your true personality free when you fall in love. Your inner child comes out and you are emboldened by lust. Even if it takes you to hell, at least you’re with your partner,” Laufey stated.
The music video portrays this feeling, as the singer first enters a seemingly elegant party, but it soon descends into chaos. As the scene changes, Laufey sings, “So, I propose / It’s long overdue / When you go to hell, I’ll go there with you too.”
The extravagant-looking party then turns into a fun nightmare fuel as party guests are now masqueraded, dancing in sync, and surrounding the singer. When Laufey finds her partner after frantically trying to escape, she sings, “The silver lining’s I’ll be there with you.”
The single is potentially the first from the “Valentine” singer’s next album, currently referred to as “Laufey 3.”
At the start of the year, she posted to Instagram a clip of her singing a different song. She teased the new album by captioning the video with a clock emoji and the hashtag “laufey3.”

Surrounding the release of “Silver Lining,” she put up a billboard in the desert with an image of her crying and the text reading, “Still struggling with my name? Visit SAYLAUFEY.COM to learn.” Some have speculated the billboard could be possibly hinting at a Coachella performance.
Fans are excited about the start of her new era. Laufey has been credited by many as sparking the newfound love for jazz within Gen Z.
She shared with NME, “I always said to my mom, I remember when I was 11 in the car, ‘I want to do for jazz music what Taylor Swift did for country music.’ With every day, with every little achievement, I feel like I’m getting closer to that goal of bringing jazz back to my generation.”
