Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez Shine at New Prom-Inspired Birthday
Benny Blanco proves that adulting doesn’t mean you can’t still have a promising time.
The songwriter celebrated his birthday on March 8 with a prom-themed party, honoring his fiancée, Selena Gomez, who never had the opportunity to experience her high school prom.
“Selena had never been to a prom before, so I thought I’d throw us a prom for my birthday,” Blanco shared with The Jennifer Hudson Show on Monday, April 7.
He mentioned she was unsure about how prom typically works; however, he had experienced it twice while growing up. “I was invited when I was younger,” he told the host. “I got invited to prom twice. The first time, I went with a friend—we went as part of a group—and the second time, I went with a girlfriend.”
The excitement was accompanied by anxious feelings, as the “Same Old Love” singer was uncertain about what to expect.
“She didn’t even know, she was like, ‘What am I supposed to wear? What am I supposed to do?!’” the producer recalled, reflecting on their conversation leading up to his birthday celebration. “It was like she was really going to prom.”
No prom is complete without a corsage, so he made sure to get one for his date.
The couple started dating in July 2023, around her birthday, which he talked about on the Howard Stern Show in May 2024.
It wasn’t until later that year that people started buzzing about them being together. In December, Selena pretty much confirmed it when she commented on a fan page’s post, stating, “He is my absolute everything in my heart.”
She continued, “Why has he been the best thing that’s ever happened to me. He’s still better than anyone I’ve ever been with.”
As they move forward together, it’s clear that they are each other’s everything, exemplifying that sometimes, the most amazing things happen when you least anticipate them.
