Jenna Ortega in Talks to Join New JJ Abrams Film
JJ Abrams’ next film has yet to be titled, but Jenna Ortega is in talks to join the project alongside Glen Powell.
While the film hasn’t yet been titled, it is known that it’s a fantasy, mystery-oriented film. The Warner Bros. project is both written and directed by Abrams, with production done by Bad Robot. Filming is set to begin soon in the United Kingdom.
Glen Powell is part of the film’s cast. Samuel L. Jackson and Emma Mackey have also been rumored to join the project.
Abrams’ most recent film release was Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which dropped in theaters in 2019. The film writer is known for his work on productions such as Alias, Lost, Star Wars, Star Trek, and Mission Impossible.
The filmmaker is also working on another film that is slated for an early 2026 release, entitled Flowervale Street. The mystery thriller features big names in acting, including Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor, Christian Convery, Denitra Isler, Maisy Stella, and others. Currently in post-production, the film follows a family living in the 1980s who becomes aware of strange occurrences going on in their neighborhood.
Ortega is most widely known for her major role in the popular Netflix series, Wednesday. The second season of the series is expected to release later this year. The actress has also starred in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and several of the Scream films.
Powell is coming off of the wild success of Twisters, which went to theaters last summer. He’s also starred in films such as Anyone but You with Sydney Sweeney, and Top Gun: Maverick alongside Tom Cruise and Miles Teller. Last year, the actor was cast in the upcoming remake of The Running Man led by filmmaker Edgar Wright.
More information about Abrams’ project will come at a later date.
