Only Murders in the Building Welcomes New Tenant Jermaine Fowler

In an exciting season 4 finale, fans eagerly await season 5 of the smash hit Hulu comedy Only Murders in the Building. Now, Deadline reports that comedian Jermaine Fowler will join the series as a guest star.

Hulu’s award-winning series centers around three true crime fanatics, Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), and Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), who decide to start a podcast to solve a series of murders in their upper west side apartment building.

If you aren’t familiar with Only Murders in the Building, you must at least be familiar with its track record of hiring high-caliber actors for its supporting cast. Previous seasons included the likes of Meryl Streep, Paul Rudd, Jane Lynch, Tina Fey, Eugene Levy,Zach Galifianakis, Richard Kind, Melissa McCarthy, Kumail Nanjiani, and Molly Shannon. They have no intention of stopping that with season 5.

Fowler joins Renée Zellweger, Christoph Waltz, Logan Lerman, and Keegan-Michael Key as the latest actors to be added to the roster for season 5, which is currently in production and expected to premiere in the summer of 2026.

Details and plot points of season 5 have been kept under tight wraps so far, but with that shocking cliffhanger that ended last season, there’s enough to keep us theorizing.

The end of season 4 left our favorite trio of amateur sleuths in a precarious position. The day after Oliver’s wedding to Loretta Durkin (Meryl Streep), the trio stumble upon a horrid sight: their doorman, Lester (Teddy Coluca), dead in the apartment fountain in a pool of his blood.

It stands to reason that a crucial part of season 5 will be centered around this cliffhanger mystery. Who would do this? Why would anyone want Lester dead? Is anyone else in danger? Is the killer one of us?

Fowler has many credits behind him, such as Ricky Stanicky, Sorry to Bother You, the limited series Murder at the End of the World, Judas and the Black Messiah, and the sketch comedy series Friends of the People. He will also star alongside Tracy Morgan in the latter’s upcoming comedy series Crutch, as Morgan’s son Jake, who moves back in with his father.
