Travis Kelce Addresses False Rumors Making Viral Rounds
Travis Kelce wants to clarify some rumors surrounding his charity work, especially after recent reports sparked much attention online.
During the April 9 episode of the New Heights podcast with his brother Jason, the 35-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end appeared to address rumors about purchasing a $3.3 million home to convert it into a shelter for homeless youth.
Last month, the non-profit Foster Love posted about it, according to Sports Illustrated, but it looks like that post has been taken down since then.
“Some false claims were thrown out there that I was doing something in the community that I was not,” Kelce stated. “I’m not even going to talk about it specifically, I don’t want to bring any more attention to that whole nonsense and article and all that stuff.”
He encouraged fans to visit his Eighty-Seven and Running foundation if they’re interested in learning about the causes he supports and his efforts.
According to a message from the athlete’s organization, “We empower disadvantaged youth to achieve success by providing resources and support to their communities and cultivating their talent in the areas of education, business, athletics, STEM, and the arts.”
A British publication first reported the story, followed by ESPN’s Pat McAfee, who praised the athlete as a “good human” and helped the rumor spread. While he received much praise, he wanted to clarify: “Just wanted to set the record straight. Thank you all for the love, especially Pat McAfee, who looks out for everyone in sports.”
He also helped start the Operation Breakthrough Ignition Lab, which helps support the education of students in ninth grade and up. In 2024, he helped donate 24,000 meals to students in need.
Due to his numerous positive contributions, he was nominated for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award in both 2020 and 2024. Additionally, his foundation donated funds to the University of Cincinnati Athletics Department to establish a Health and Wellness Endowment for student-athletes.
Through his foundation, community projects, and generous donations, he continues to make a real difference in the lives of young people, whether through education, meals for those in need, or support for student-athletes.
Kelce proves that he’s just as passionate about helping others as he is about the game.
