Lady Gaga Hints at New Coachella Performance
The Mother of the Little Monsters, Lady Gaga, hinted at an exciting Coachella set with an appearance of at least one song off her seventh studio album, Mayhem. Fans highly anticipate the spectacular they currently dub “Gagachella.”
The Grammy Award-winning pop star dropped in with Rolling Stone to tease her set ahead of weekend one. While it will be her second time as a headliner for Coachella, it’ll be her first live chance to show fans what’s to come for the upcoming “Mayhem Ball” tour.
The “Poker Face” hitmaker commented that the track “Killah,” a collaboration with Gesaffelstein, is on the setlist. “We had a good time making it together. The bridge just pops off, and it’s going to be total Mayhem, a good time. I can’t wait to play it at Coachella.”

She also teased a heavy choreography set featuring moves by celebrity choreographer Parris Goebel. She mentioned, “It means so much to me, and it’s so special that I want everything to be a surprise.” Goebel directed the “Abracadabra” fan music video and the official video.
The last time the singer headlined Coachella was in 2017, as a fill-in for Beyoncé, who was pregnant with twins. That set included hits like “Poker Face,” “Telephone,” and “Just Dance,” among others. The performance got positive reviews from fans and critics, even though the singer had just two weeks to prepare.
On that performance, she acknowledged, “But I only had two weeks, so to design a stage, to have it made, all of those things — I didn’t have the time to totally do what I really wanted to do.”
She stated, “But you know when you have a vision in your mind of how you want to do something? It’s time to make it happen.”

At the time, she was promoting her sixth album, Joanne, which she dedicated to her aunt, who passed due to illness. That album spawned the critically and commercially successful “Million Reasons,” which received a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Performance in 2018.
When she was announced as a headliner, she took to Instagram to entice fans. She wrote, “I’ve had a vision I’ve never been able to fully realize at Coachella for reasons beyond our control, but I wanted to come through for music fans.”
Mayhem has received critical acclaim and commercial success since its release, and its two singles, “Abracadabra” and “Disease,” sat comfortably in the Billboard Top 100 Songs chart. The startling success of the album pushed the popstar to tour, which she announced on Instagram, writing, “I wasn’t planning to tour this year after my shows in Singapore, but the incredible response to the new album inspired me to keep things going.”
Initially, a thirty-two-date run, Gaga added eight more performances to the lineup. The arena tour for Mayhem will start on July 16 in Paradise, Nevada, and conclude in Sydney, Australia, on December 12. While we have yet to know what’s in store for the tour, it’s safe to say it’ll be one to remember.
