Coldplay Announces New ‘We Pray’ Version Featuring TWICE

On Wednesday, Coldplay announced it would release a new version of “We Pray” with the iconic K-pop group TWICE.

Coldplay performed in South Korea this week as part of their “Music of the Spheres” world tour, with TWICE and rising star Elyanna as special guests. The special guests will perform with the band from April 16 to April 22. On April 24 and 25, TWICE will continue performing with Coldplay alongside HANRORO as special guests for the rest of the Korean tour dates.

TWICE opened for the legendary band, exciting the crowd with songs like “Strategy” and “Fancy” before performing with the group, debuting the performance of the upcoming Korean remix.

The original song is off Coldplay’s most recent album, Moon Music, and features Elyanna, Little Simz, Burna Boy, and Tini. “We Pray” highlights the unity between humankind regarding prayer and hope despite each other’s differences.

The new version with TWICE will not be the first multilingual version of the song. Coldplay released a Spanish version with Argentinian singer Tini and an Arabic version with Palestinian-Chilean singer Elyanna.

The song’s various multilingual versions accentuate its message of unity worldwide. 

TWICE stated on Instagram, “The first performance filled with excitement and joy. A fabulous stage created by TWICE and COLDPLAY. A night made even more special by uniting through music and sharing its beginning together.”

Not only did TWICE debut the performance of “We Pray,” but the group also announced their upcoming tour.

Nayeon shared with the crowd, “We’re truly grateful to be opening for artists we admire so much. This will be an unforgettable memory. Will you come to our concert too? We’re planning to hold one this year, so please join us.”

Onces are ecstatic at the news of the new remix and upcoming concert. One fan posted, “twice opening for coldplay, twice5 in may, twice kr cb in the second quarter, twice sixth world tour confirmed, chaelo in the works, hyolo2 in the works… onces keep winning.”

Coldplay’s new version of “We Pray” featuring TWICE will be released at midnight KST on April 18 / 11 a.m. EST, and 8 a.m. PST on April 17.
