Gracie Abrams Working on New Music With Aaron Dessner

Gracie Abrams revealed that she’s working on new music that could be part of her next album.

In an interview with Billboard, Abrams discussed how she took time between the European and Asian legs of her tour, “The Secret of Us Tour,” to work with producer Aaron Dessner on new music at Electric Lady Studios.

“Aaron and I are catching each other in these little pockets between hectic times,” she stated. “Every day that I live with the music, things start to become a little clearer. There’s something we’re starting to crack that is making both of us feel energized.”

On a Saturday between tour legs, the “I Love You, I’m Sorry” singer went into the studio hoping to finalize one song with Dessner. However, 12 hours later, she left the studio having worked on a handful of tracks that could appear in a new album.

She recently partnered once again with Benny Blanco to work on a track with him and Selena Gomez for their newly released collaborative album, I Said I Love You First. Their song “Call Me When You Break Up” was released as a single before the album’s release at the end of March.

Blanco described his admiration for the “Risk” artist, calling her “a force to be reckoned with.”

“What’s so cool about her music is that she really tells it how it is, whether it makes her look great or not so great,” he mentioned. “She makes these songs that are huge in stadiums now, yet they also still feel like she’s whispering them into your ear in your bedroom at three in the morning.”

Abrams has reached monumental success in recent years between album drops, touring, and opening for Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour.” In her interview, she explained how she felt her purpose was to write songs.

“I think the best use of me as a human being on this planet, at least right now, is trying to use my writing or storytelling to make as many people as possible feel connected to themselves and to this community,” she discussed.

Her most recent album, The Secret of Us, was released last year and produced with Dessner. It debuted at the second spot on the Billboard 200 list. A few months later, she surprised fans with a deluxe version of the album. One track from the project, “That’s So True,” reached the Billboard Hot 100’s top 10.
