Serena Williams, a twenty-three-time Grand Slam champion and cultural icon, has been named one of TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2025.

New Era

Almost three years after she stated she was “evolving away from tennis,” Williams proves her influence extends far beyond the court.

In a recent interview on her farm in South Florida, Williams openly reflected on motherhood, business, and the hard pull of tennis. Despite retiring from competition, she mentioned, “I miss it a lot, with all my heart… I think I’m healthy because I didn’t overplay,”.

Williams has remained an important figure. While balancing family life with her daughters, Olympia and Adira, and her husband, Alexis Ohanian. All this while building her investment firm, Serena Ventures. Since 2021, her company has invested in over 30 companies and raised over $100 million. Fourteen of the companies she has invested in have been valued at $1 billion or more.

Growing Off the Court

Adding more titles to her résumé, Williams recently joined the ownership group of the Toronto Tempo, a new WNBA expansion team that will debut in 2026. Williams is also a gardener, growing fresh produce and raising chickens. “We basically eat off the land,” from mom duties at Olympia’s school to surprise Super Bowl appearances, Williams continues to exceed expectations. “I’m a wonderful mom… I’m freaking the room mom at Olympia’s school this year.”

Even with tennis in her past, Williams keeps a close eye on the sport. She praised rising star Jannik Sinner while questioning the leniency shown to him over a doping violation. “If I did that, I would have gotten 20 years… Let’s be honest,” she stated.

Whether she’s producing Netflix adaptations or trading garden tips with Meghan Markle, Serena Williams remains a symbol of strength, evolution, and influence. As she stated herself, “That’s such a Serena moment.”
