According to Tribeca, “The core of the festival program is our main slate of feature and short films, highlighting politically, culturally, and socially relevant films from diverse storytellers.” They focus on sharing unique perspectives and narratives while highlighting music legends and cultural figures.

The festival opens with the world premiere of Billy Joel: And So It Goes. Directed by Emmy winners Susan Lacy and Jessica Levin, the film captures “the grit, genius, and soul of William Martin Joel — from his Long Island roots to sold-out stadiums. With rare archival footage and revealing new interviews, the film charts the rise of one of America’s greatest singer-songwriters, whose music became the heartbeat of a city and the soundtrack of a generation.”

Another musical genius that will be celebrated at the festival is Miley Cyrus for her visual album Something Beautiful. Directed by the iconic singer herself, the one-of-a-kind pop opera will showcase thirteen original new songs. Following the world premiere, Cyrus will host an exclusive sit-down with festival attendees.

Tribeca will also feature Demi Lovato and Octavia Spencer’s Tow, a film that tells the true story of an unhoused woman who fights a towing company to keep the car she lives in. Stephanie Laing directs Tow stars, Rose Byrne, and is being scored by composer Nathan Barr and Este Haim of the band Haim.

Everything’s Going To Be Great, starring Bryan Cranston, will also be featured at the festival. The drama follows the Smart family, who is unexpectedly forced to move in with an estranged relative and navigate oversized dreams and identity crises.

The Tribeca Film Festival is recognized for its selection of films that tell unique yet critical stories. These are just a few examples of featured films. However, there are several more that will premiere at the festival.
