Ahsoka Season 2 Will Feature New Actors, Mortis Gods and More
Star Wars Celebration took place in Japan over the weekend and Lucasfilm held a series of panels about its upcoming projects, including Ahsoka.
In attendance at the panel were our protagonist Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), executive producer Jon Favreau, and space cowboy/series creator Dave Filoni. Towards the end of the panel, legendary antagonist and Ahsoka’s former Jedi master, Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen), will also return to reprise his role. But Skywalker’s news wasn’t the only Ahsoka news unveiled at Star Wars Celebration.
Ahsoka Season 1 Recap
Spoilers for season 1 of Ahsoka.
Where we last left off in this part of the galaxy, things were looking grim. Ahsoka and her Mandalorian padawan Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) were abandoned on Peridea, an ancient planet in the far galaxy, with no way home.
Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) is now free from his outer galaxy exile, along with Jedi Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi). The return of the imperial officer spells trouble for the New Republic. However, Ahsoka and Sabine are not the only Force wielders left on Peridea. Former Jedi Baylan Skoll is on a mission of greater meaning, along with his apprentice Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno), who are still out there somewhere.
The role of Baylan Skoll was portrayed by the late Ray Stevenson, who passed away in August 2023, three months before the series’ premise. However, Baylan’s journey was far from finished.
“Baylan is meant to be the parallel to Ahsoka in every way, a different journey for a Jedi who has been lost,” Filoni told the audience. “That parallel must continue.”
So, the choice was made to find an actor to continue Stevenson’s legacy, and Filoni and Favreau believed that Game of Thrones actor Rory McCann was the right man for the job. The audience even got a glimpse of McCann in costume with Scroll’s lightsaber in hand.

The last we saw of Stevenson was him standing atop the ruins of gargantuan statues of the Mortis Gods. The Mortis Gods debuted in Star Wars: The Clone Wars during a three-episode arc in which a young Ahsoka, Anakin, and Obi-Wan Kenobi faced embodiments of the Force.
Other things shared with the audience include miniatures of the rebellion ships, concept art of a new species of Loth kittens, and news that New Republic Grand Admiral Ackbar of the Mon Calamari will head to head with Thrawn in season 2.
To close out a panel full of surprises, the crowd got a glimpse at a pre-production teaser. The teaser confirmed that Star Wars: Rebels character Zeb Orrelios will also appear in season 2 of Ahsoka.
