Coming home from a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars Celebration is heading to Los Angeles to celebrate its fiftieth anniversary.

According to the event organizers, the massive Lucasfilm fan convention will hold its next edition in the famous city on April 20 to commemorate the release of the franchise’s first film. A source close to the producer claims the celebration will occur inside the Los Angeles Convention Center. The venue previously hosted the convention’s fourth edition in May 2007, which honored the film series’ 30 year anniversary.

This year’s Star Wars Celebration returned to Japan for the first time since 2008, marking just the second time it’s taken place in Asia. According to Lucasfilms, the Tokyo event was the fastest to sell out, with over 105,000 guests in attendance, an eight percent increase from the 2023 London convention.

“It’s nice being back. What’s not to love being back,” fan-favorite actor Hayden Christensen stated. “It’s an amazing event and a concentration of joy where we all come together to share our love of Star Wars.”

The celebration featured over 26 hours of franchise programming across three main stages, plus 100 hours of fan panels and podcasts on supporting stages and convention spaces. Several major franchise announcements were made, including Star Wars: Starfighter starring Ryan Gosling, along with a sneak peek at the highly anticipated Mandalorian and Grogu spinoff film.

Other notable announcements included the premiere of Andor season two and Christensen announcing his return as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka season two.

“It was a real privilege [since] there is such a rich history between Anakin [Skywalker] and Ashoka,” Christensen added when asked about his return to the hit series. “There’s a really fun dynamic that Dave Filoni and George Lucas created in the animated world.”

The Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith actor continued, “We wanted to do that Justice, and it’s somewhat ironic I gotta do it with someone I have my own history with.”

Meanwhile, the producer announced new animations, including a Darth Maul series, Maul: Shadow Lord, and the Ninth Jedi spinoff series.
