Crikey: Robert Irwin Joins Season 34 of Dancing With the Stars

Just days after closing their longest tour yet, Dancing With the Stars is already looking toward season 34 coming this fall. So much so, they’ve already announced their first contestant — get ready to go down under with TV personality and conservationist Robert Irwin.
Sound familiar? Irwin is the son of the beloved Australian zookeeper Steve Irwin, who passed in 2006 after an injury caused by a stingray. Since then, Robert and his older sister Bindi a.k.a. “Bindi the Jungle Girl” have kept their father’s legacy alive through animal conservation work as Bindi is the CEO of the Australian Zoo.
Bindi was also the first Irwin to compete on the dance competition series in season 21 with pro partner Derek Hough. With heart-wrenching pieces like “Footprints in the Sand,” a dedication to her father, the two took home the mirrorball trophy and remain a fan favorite contestant today.
Now, the question is, can little brother do the same?
Well, he seems up for it, even 10 years later. In a clip resurfacing from DWTS’s All Access segment in 2015 when his sister competed, he mentioned he would love to do the series one day. “Definitely, I would love to. That would be so much fun,” he gushed.

He’s already debuted his grown-up self in a recent campaign with Bonds where he bared (almost) all — and added a snake for a personal touch.
At tonight’s Hulu Get Real event co-hosted by pro Rylee Arnold, they announced Irwin as the first official contestant to grace the stage this season. Although fans have buzzed about a potential pairing between him and Arnold, his pro partner will not be announced until later this summer at the Good Morning America cast reveal.
Season 34 of Dancing With the Stars is still months away, so until then, catch up on season 33 on Disney+.
