Raveena Celebrates Earth Day with New Single ‘Morning Prayer’
Raveena released her new single “Morning Prayer” with Jenn Ban and zen-t featuring NATURE.
Raveena has consistently incorporated themes of nature and spirituality throughout her musical career, especially in her recent album, Where the Butterflies Go in the Rain.
In her recent album short film, Raveena shared, “It feels like I was two different people on the first and second album, and this is almost like a mother holding space for it all. It felt guided by magic, and I was just talking to ancestors and talking to spirits every day like very much in communion, having these really radically beautiful moments in nature, these freeing moments where I was just like dropping every idea of self when it came to the business or industry aspect or fame aspect and being like ‘who is the artist the musician or even just the conduit at the core.’”
This new single is part of the music initiative collaboration project Sounds Right with the Museum of United Nations, which seeks to emphasize the power of nature through artists collaborating on music with sounds of nature. These collaborative songs feature NATURE as her own artist, allowing NATURE to generate royalties on music streaming services such as Spotify, YouTube, and TIDAL. These royalties are then used to fund conservation and restoration efforts, giving back to Mother Earth through the Sounds Right Fund.
“When me and Jenn [Ban] went to the forest to one of our annual trips, all we were doing was meditating and feeling into the elements. One morning, she caught me meditating in the morning rain, and the sun was peeking [through] the rain clouds—she took a voice note of the environment, and we both thought nothing of it except for how beautiful the moment was. A few weeks later, she sent me this gorgeous soundscape (originally intended for her art gallery) of the rain from that day, frogs from her Florida home, and this haunting vocalizing she made with zen.t. Inspired by our time in the forest, I immediately wrote over the soundscape and sent it back to her gallery opening,” Raveena wrote on Instagram.
On “Morning Prayer,” her signature soothing voice mixes beautifully, mesmerizing the listener with Zen-t’s vocals, the Florida frogs, and soft thunderclaps. In the ethereal music video, she sings, “The rain’s falling on my eyes / There’s no tears I cry / It’s just the morning prayer.”
