The two friends were chatting about where Nick had gone as he left to pick up bagels that morning, but they appeared thrilled by Anne’s father’s distraction as they discussed their relationships. The group all smiled when the father told them, “Well, your daughter only gets married a bunch of times, I guess.”
He added about his personal life, “You know Anne’s mother would have loved this. She loved outdoor parties.” Kate proceeded to ask if he had any marriage advice. “I don’t know. You know, communication. Try not to fuss about the small stuff,” Alda stated before teasing how they could make things interesting.
“My wife did have this one thing. She’ll kill me if I tell you,” the actor added. “Every once in a while, we’d wake up, and she’d say, ‘Congratulations! Take off your pants; it’s a sex day.’” Danny and Kate laughed as he continued advising by claiming how your spouse would be as thankful as a dog on Thanksgiving seeing food drop on the floor.
Kate then told her father she loved him and kissed him on the cheek before he exited the room. During the episode’s closing scene, Alda returned as Nick arrived at the wedding ceremony to say his vows. Alda also appeared in the 2022 film Ray Donovan: The Movie to reprise his role as Dr. Aruthur Amiot. The award-winning actor is known for his work in Hawkeye, M*A*S*H, and The West Wing.
