Megan Moroney announced that her next single, “You Had To Be There,” featuring Kenny Chesney, will be released soon.

The “Mama I Lied” singer revealed that she and Chesney would release their newest single on Friday, May 9. She took to social media to make the announcement, posting an illustration of them on stage.

The caption reads, “‘7 years later got a different point of view…’ YOU HAD TO BE THERE FT. KENNY CHESNEY OUT MAY 9TH.”

Chesney commented on the post, expressing his love for the “No Caller ID” singer. “As far as I know this is the first song anyone has written for me,” Chesney stated. “Thank you Megan. I love ya.”

This isn’t the first time the duo has worked together. Moroney traveled with the “Summertime” singer on the “Sun Goes Down Tour,” where he headlined alongside the Zac Brown Band.

The country artists have been spending downtime together in recent weeks. They created Chesney’s official TikTok account and posted a video together for their fans.

Moroney had a big year in 2024. In addition to the tour, she released her second album, Am I Okay? She also won two major awards that year, the Country Music Association Award for New Artist of the Year and the Academy of Country Music Award for New Female Artist of the Year. She first rose to fame in 2022 when her song “Tennessee Orange” went viral on TikTok.

The country star is finishing the “Am I Okay?” tour, including dates in Houston, Minneapolis, Omaha, Oklahoma City, Washington D.C., Uncasville, Richmond, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh. The tour began on March 20, where she opened the concert for an enthusiastic crowd in Montreal.

Chesney is set to host a 12-show residency in Las Vegas at the Sphere. The event begins on Memorial Day weekend.

“NO SHOES NATION! Kenny Chesney LIVE at @spherevegas featuring 12 shows kicks off Memorial Day weekend,” Chesney stated on Instagram.

In the meantime, Chesney’s discography can be found here, and Moroney’s can be found here.
