She Gets It From Me New Comedy Film Cast Leads
Rachel Zegler and Marisa Tomei will costar in a new mother-daughter dramedy, She Gets It from Me.
She Gets It From Me is a new drama-comedy directed by Julia Von Heinz (Treasure, And Tomorrow the Entire World). The script is penned by Jay Reiss, one of the creators of The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee. He is also set to produce alongside 3311 Productions and Anna Werner for Seven Elephants.
Zegler is fresh off the controversial run of Disney’s live-action Snow White; she was already on the lookout for her next film, and now she has it. Based on a true story, her character, Nicky, has her engagement party turned into a search for her wild-card, drug-addicted, ex-punk rocker birth mother, Charlotte (Tomei).

This dramedy is still in the earliest stages of production, so little else is known besides the actresses’ casting and the producers. The film has yet to be acquired for distribution by any particular company. However, Embankment Films is shopping for one, launching pre-sales in Cannes.
The film celebrates Zegler, who Disney scapegoated for Snow White’s critical and box office failure, but her path ahead looks extremely bright today.

Furthernore, she is a welcome addition to the film, according to producer Jen Dana, who told Variety, “Rachel always brings a brilliant depth and humanity to her roles, and we are so excited for her to continue to showcase her versatility and humor as an actress.”
The actress won a Golden Globe for her breakout role in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story and received critical acclaim for her performance as Lucy Gray Baird in Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
In the meantime, Zegler will make her West End debut in the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Evita at the London Palladium in the musical’s titular role, Eva Peron.
