Doechii Debuts Met Gala in Stunning Superfine Look
Doechii came prepared for her debut at this year’s Met Gala, embracing the Superfine theme.
Doechii’s career has been soaring lately, as the third woman to win Best Rap Album at the recent Grammys for her mixtape, Alligator Bites Never Heal. This year marked her debut at the Met Gala, where she brought Black excellence and style to the carpet.
This year’s Met Gala was hosted by Anna Wintour, co-chaired by Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Lewis Hamilton, with LeBron James as honorary chair.
The theme was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. Miller’s book goes in-depth into the cultural history of dandyism within the Black diaspora since the eighteenth century, impacting the community’s social and political identity for centuries to come.
It is the event’s first to focus on Black designers and the first to focus on menswear style in 22 years.
Doechii arrived inside a box at the Metropolitan Museum of Art so she wouldn’t be photographed before her time on the blue carpet.
The rapper has gone viral recently for her fashion, such as her looks at Paris Fashion Week, and she did not disappoint at Monday’s event.
The Grammy Award-winning rapper wore a suit embracing dandyism with her iconic look, wearing a Louis Vuitton tailcoat, checkered Bermuda shorts, and a small Louis Vuitton logo on her cheek. Doechii stunned in her afro and oozed charisma and confidence, posing with a cigar in a burgundy silk bow.
Yes Doechii!! Wearing custom Louis Vuitton by Pharrell. The tailoring is perfect + I love the color contrast. The look is inspired Julius Soubise eighteenth-century dandy who was formerly enslaved and rose through high society in Britain. #MetGala2025 pic.twitter.com/VC93FPM6d8

She cited inspiration from Miller’s book and specifically the character Julius Soubise within it. Louis Vuitton and Pharrell Williams, the men’s creative director at Louis Vuitton and someone well-recognized for dandyism, collaborated with Doechii for months to work on her outfit for the event.
The Swamp Princess also shared with Ego Nwodim and Teyana Taylor, “Having the project I have out, heavily inspired by ‘90s rap, I felt inspired by the theme of students of hip-hop, and I feel like that’s very dandy, very inspired by tonight’s theme.”
