Lainey Wilson’s work on Whirlwind won her the Best Album of the Year award at the sixtieth annual Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards hosted by Reba McEntire in Frisco, Texas.

The beloved singer’s album beat out fellow nominees’ projects such as Megan Moroney’s Am I Okay, Jelly Roll’s Beautifully Broken, Zach Tops’ Cold Beer and Country Music, and Post Malone’s F-1 Trillion.

After receiving the award from Little Big Town, Wilson stated, “There’s been some good country music coming out of Nashville this year, and I’m so proud to be a part of this generation of country music.”

“There’s a little bit of everything,” she added. “This record means the world to me. It got me through a time in my life that was constantly changing.”

She is now the seventh artist to win the coveted award twice, after her last project, Bell Bottom County, won in 2022. She also won the Entertainer of the Year award for the second year straight, making her the first woman to do so since Taylor Swift in 2009 and 2010.

The musician took home Female Artist of the Year for the third year and Artist-Songwriter of the Year for the fourth year in a row.

“Thank you so much. I love every single one of y’all in this category,” the singer stated after winning the Entertainer of the Year award. “Y’all have taken me under your wings, taken me on the road with you, asked me to help on songs, and supported me in every way we can.”

She continued, “I’m sure everyone deals with a little bit of impostor syndrome, and I’ll tell you I have a little bit, but I read something not long ago that [stated] if something is given to you, you need to accept it with an open heart and open mind. So I appreciate it.”

The artist noted she loves entertaining people to make them laugh, smile, and cry. “I’m sorry, but I love to feel things. Everyone loves to feel things, and country music has given me more than I deserve. I appreciate everyone in this room, and my heart is so full,” she concluded.
