Glen Powell’s New Hulu Series Chad Powers Gets Release Date

Glen Powell’s Hulu comedy Chad Powers, which he is both starring in and producing, will debut on September 30. The popular actor potrays Russ Holliday, a star quarterback who, after getting booted from his college, attempts to go undercover at another school and restart his career. 

The official synopsis reads, “When bad behavior nukes hotshot QB Russ Holliday’s college career, he disguises himself and walks onto a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers.”

The half-hour Hulu series is based on Super Bowl-winning quarterback Eli Manning’s 2022 viral comedy sketch that aired on ESPN+. Made by Eli and Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions, the video captured the younger Manning wearing a wig and prosthetic nose to go undercover at Penn State University’s football tryouts. The sketch included his interactions with the other college students and their reactions to him taking off his disguise at the end.  

The Mannings will serve as executive producers alongside Powell, Michael Waldron, Adam Fasullo, Luvh Rakhe, Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown, Tony Yacenda, and ESPN. 

Powell and Waldron co-created the series and co-wrote the premiere. Waldron is known for writing and producing the Disney+ series Loki. 

However, in addition to Powell, Chad Powers will star Steve Zahn, Toby Huss, Perry Mattfeld, Wynn Everett, Frankie A. Rodriguez, and Quentin Plair.

Compared to his recent roles, this series is quite different for Powell. The American actor got his big break for his work in Top Gun: Maverick, where he played an extremely confident naval aviator. Afterwards, he starred in the iconic rom-com Anyone But You, where he embodied a charming but cocky finance bro. Last year, he was the lead in Twisters, where starred as Tyler Owens a charismatic and reckless storm chaser. 

As Chad Powers is not only a TV series, but also a comedy, this is a different type of project than Powell has worked on in the past. It will definitely put his acting skills to the test while allowing him to showcase his producing and screenwriting abilities. 

The first two episodes of Chad Powers will be available to stream on September 30 on Hulu.
